No reviews or riffs, just stuff from the Oddity Archive collection that we wanted to share.
Donahue (Spring Break '87 @ Ft. Lauderdale) (possibly 4/16/1987) (2nd half only)
Special Thanks to Ben A. for sending this tape in!
The second half of the Donahue (shooting fish in a barrel) Show, this time hitting the easy target of some dippy college kids on Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
This aired over Rochester, NY then-ABC station WOKR, possibly on Thursday, April 16, 1987, but I can't confirm that.
ALL COPYRIGHTS (and 3.2 beer-induced shouts) ACKNOWLEDGED

WDAF (NBC - Kansas City, MO) Ad Breaks (mid-8/1983)
Переглядів 94421 день тому
Another one from the (formerly) Zenith Demo Tape. This is from a partial summer rerun (due to taping over on the part of the original owner) of "The A-Team". This aired on Kansas City, MO NBC station WDAF, probably on August 16 or 23, 1983. ALL COPYRIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGED

Well, this WAS supposed to be a pretty rare Zenith Demo Tape, but someone was desperate for tapes and decided to pop a piece of scotch tape over the record tab hole and reuse the tape...several times. The first recording on this tape is also the most inept. For whatever reason, color didn't seem to be happening on this one. Anyway, this is from the end of an episode of "TV's Bloopers & Practica...

Special Thanks to Noelle Logan for sending in this tape! To celebrate the 150th off-air copy of "Flashdance" that's landed in my collection (not on purpose, mind you), I've pulled...as much as YT will let me of the nearly half-hour break between shows on the tape. Visit archive.org/details/showtime-break-sun-2-26-1984 to see this one uncut. ALL COPYRIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGED
Geraldo (Skin Care) (WROC - then-NBC - Rochester, NY) (possibly late 2/1988)
Переглядів 276Місяць тому
Special Thanks to Ben A. for passing this tape along! Given this has already appeared (at least) twice on OA, it seemed only fair to post it in its entirety. Today, Geraldo digs deep...into your pores. This aired on Rochester, NY then-NBC station WROC. If the other contents of this tape were anything to go by, this probably aired sometime in the last few days of February, 1988. ALL COPYRIGHTS A...
Donahue (J.F.K. Mistress Judith Campbell Exner) (WOKR - ABC - Rochester, NY) (Wed. 3/2/1988)
Переглядів 853Місяць тому
Special Thanks to Ben A. for sending in this tape! Donahue strikes again...on one of J.F.K.'s (seemingly quite easy in her prime if you listen to her long enough) mistresses. The partial studio power outage that occurs early on is probably the most interesting thing here. This aired via Rochester, NY ABC station WOKR (now WHAM) on Wednesday, March 2, 1988 (thanks to eascec8374 for pinpointing t...
Sally Jessy Raphael (Mentally Disabled Musicians) (possibly Fri. 4/10/1987)
Переглядів 448Місяць тому
Special Thanks to Ben A. for passing this tape along! Maybe I'm just being oversensitive, but (even by Sally Jessy standards) this seems rather exploitative. You be the judge. NOTE: The first few minutes of this recording are pretty jittery. Grab your seasick pills if necessary. NOTE #2: Sally Jessy doesn't actually say "mentally disabled". Grab some pearls for clutching, if necessary. This air...

Special Thanks to Ben A. for passing along this tape! From an airing of the Superman 50th Anniversary Special...available elsewhere on YT (and on DVD on one of the deluxe Superman sets). Consider this to be an alternate perspective on this broadcast. This aired on Rochester, NY (then-)CBS station WHEC on February 29, 1988 (leap day!). ALL COPYRIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGED
WDZL (then-Ind. - Miami, FL) Ad Breaks (Sun. 9/25/1988)
Переглядів 373Місяць тому
From the RetroCirq collection. From an airing of "From Here To Eternity". At one point, Frank Sinatra throws his clothes down to the floor so hard that the film jumped the rails. The man was truly a force of nature. This aired over then-independent station WDZL in Miami, FL on Sunday, September 25, 1988 between Noon and 2:30 P.M. ALL COPYRIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGED

Переглядів 2402 місяці тому
Picking up where the previous "To Save A Life" short left off. This time, let's learn all about David Crosby's short-lived band, "CPR"...or, learn about CPR proper. Some serious resusci-Annie action going on in this one. ALL COPYRIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGED

The Way Home (1976) (Discovision)
Переглядів 7192 місяці тому
Since I don't forsee a reissue of this one ever happening, might as well roll the dice and post this one. Made by the Franciscan Church and hosted by a cross between a monk, Charlie Chan and a Bond villain. This short-ish film revolves around...a grown man that works for Dad's company...that is ticked off that his brother has returned home...because now he thinks he won't get that new company p...
Chevrolet 1980 Caprice & Impala Industrial Films (1979) (Discovision Dead Side)

Another all-too-rare winner from the (now-formerly) lacquer-covered "dead" side of an early Discovision laserdisc. Presented twice (once in English, once in Spanish) for your maximum enjoyment. And, yes, the picture and sound are a bit rough on this one. This was the best I was able to pull off. ALL COPYRIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGED
KOIN (CBS - Portland, OR) Prime Time Ad Breaks (Fri. 6/15/1979)
Переглядів 7622 місяці тому
From the same tape as the Steve Martin special a Summer rerun of an early episode of The Dukes of Hazzard (alas, not quite complete). Admittedly, I could never really get into them Duke boys, but this really is one of those times I'd like to post the entire recording, but I'd imagine Boss Hogg (er, CBS) would be on me like flies on dookie if I tried. This aired over Portland, OR CBS station KOI...

Branson is a cultural tidepool and I adore it for that.
KERA ARE LIBERAL LOVING COMMUNIST
The same basic concept of placing the user in a space as today’s Apple Vision and such products.
Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired.
1:34 - that is one creepy face/expression.
After reading all the comments, it definitely sounds like somebody should create an airline that goes back to the roots of actual customer service, but I doubt it will make any money since it’s become such a cutthroat industry with pricing people always pick the cheapest service which usually comes with Horrible customer service But if they would have an airline domestically, that was a more top-tier service for just a little bit extra people would prefer to book it. I know I would the closest so far is JetBlue, but the customer service is not like this
Thirteen may have its studios in Manhattan these days, but it will always be a Newark station to me.
Gen X Rules👍🏿
And isn't it amazing that there was not one pharmaceutical commercial in this entire block of commercials? It's so very telling how times have changed.
It’s funny to see young women theses days - born long after Rejuvenique- using similar red light masks today.
Fun fact; Phil looks 70 years old and people thought he died the following year, he was actually 51.
R.I.P Phil Donahue!!!?
1:00 omnoms
Stan Boreson (and his dog, No-Mo) was a fixture on KING-TV in Seattle from 1949 to 1967 as host of "KING's Klubhouse." After the show was canceled, he owned a music store in the Ballard section of Seattle and made public appearances into the 2010s. Boreson's sidekick, Doug Setterberg, used an electrolarynx to speak and used it to play a character named Foghorn Peterson. The earliest reference to this album I could find was from October of '69.
Perfect little tribute! Rest-In-Piece Phil.
That bowling commercial looks very 70s
Good tribute to Phil Donahue.
Nice to see Pickwick beat Geek Music to the punch at ruining Sesame Street songs with bad soundalikes
I think I just saw this excerpted on Good Morning America. It was definitely this commercial, maybe this copy.
Proud owner of OG vinyl copy.
Remember them having horrible transmissions
My local radio DJ played a gentle bouncy song just now and I don't know if he said that it was Sophie carpenter or Sabrina carpenter. Because there's such a person as Sabrina. I'm going to ask him. He answers questions on air immediately. This is very good though🎉 🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️❤️✝️
More like download new drivers for your windows computer because the ones included don’t work.
Looks like this internet thing will catch on! Now I can go surfing on the information superhighway! I’ll see you in cyberspace!
2:33 Funny sign of the times, in this tylenol commercial the announcer says "with safety seal" so I'm guessing they were still dealing with winning over people's trust after the tylenol murders even 2 years after
Guaranteed it was October 4, 1981. There’s a spot that said the Dodgers lost and they did on that day. That was the last day of the regular season. They played October 11 in the playoffs and they won that day. They went onto win the World Series in a strike shortened season.
14:19 "Ha ha ha ha! That's very funny Meg, but this isn't about those doc martens you've been begging your mother and I for!"
3:58 what she singing??
I remember this was on Cable Channel 12 in Palos Verdes California in the late 1970s and early 1980s.... later it was changed to Showtime 😊
If only the buying public knew what was in store for them in 1980 with the downsized T Birds.
Now THIS is the sort of stuff I was hoping you'd find, hoping you find more KC area stuff, especially from independent stations we used to have around here.
A-Team season 1 episode 2
15:27 Oh goodness, that spot is using the Bob Ross background music!
Could you please post the entire album, 18 Golden Hits of 1972?? This song is from that LP.
i remember that when my brother and i were kids in the late '80's, my brother stated that he felt sorry for happy hamster that no one was in his club and he was so happy. how did he knew? it's because happy never became popular that he got forgotten too soon.
This one sucks, it got better once they switched to the blue one in the mid 90s and kept it up until the early 2000s before they switched to that hideous yellow one.
Bunch of racist bastards in the comments below. Fuck you all.
This is gold
Mike go.
I was living in South Florida around this time. I was 2 and a half years old around this time. I remember that Dynamo commercial! Many years before the affiliation with “The Dubba-dubba-dubba-dubba-WB”.
I was around 3 years old when this was broadcasted.
Cheena Estong For your thights only, Directedby Maurice Bender
Ironically, there is only one Red Lobster left in KC now.
Is there still one in Independence, Lee's Summit, Overland Park on 95th and Metcalf, St. Joseph, and Topeka?
I recognize Wes Sarginson. Sarginson was a TV news anchorman who worked in Atlanta (at WSB-TV and WXIA-TV), Washington DC (at WJLA-TV), and Tampa Bay (at WFLA-TV). Had no idea he did this piece for the Chevrolet Citation. Sarginson is enjoying retirement.
Smobody should recreate this recording with moder technology. This demonstration sound amaizing, I can only imaging what you can today.
Steve Rhodes
All his very best commercials were probably from between about 1971 and 1974; before anybody owned a VCR. I watched from Orange County CA.
I never expected a PBS Station to have a sign off
Wow, this is beautiful i have always loved deaf and ASL ❤❤
